Carved Stone Sundial with Scalloped Edge


A carved stone baluster, the top with reverse scalloped edge, surmounted by bronze sundial plate, English, circa 1870. Measure: 40 ins. high overall, extension on bottom meant to be buried to achieve 32 ins. high, top diameter 12 ins. Reputed to have come from the gardens of the Palace of Westminster. N.B. The base is intended to be sunk in the ground to the depth indicated by the markings at the bottom.
