About the Item

A striking pair of carved antique sandstone garden urns in the Adam style circa 1850. This beautiful pair are just two of various 19th century urns we are selling sourced from a country estate in the west of Scotland. Grand in scale and design, these antique sandstone urns are a spectacular addition to a garden. Each ornamental urn nods to 18th century Adam style, defined by its sweeping top, carved drapery swags and striking finial, intricately carved in a pineapple type shape formed of leaves and berries. Carved by hand, the urn details are well defined, having stood the test of time for more than 170 years. The lower half is partially carved with leaf-fluted sides above a socle on a rectangular base. Additional Information Urn 1: H79 x W40 x D36 cm Urn 2: H79 x W42 x D37 cm Bases measure 37.5 x 33 cm (14.76 x 12.99 in) Weight for both urns: 195 KG
