19th Century American County Gathering Basket

About the Item

A beautiful large American stave woven splint basket from the 19th century, with a double rolled rim and a single swinging bentwood handle, attributed to G.W. Adams Gathering baskets like this were used to gather fruits, vegetables, flowers, and eggs from the farm. Rustic yet elegant, very good quality, made with exceptional craftsmanship, With its rustic presence and nice proportions, this antique American wicker basket will be a great addition to any room, perhaps used in a living room or bedroom, to store kindling or toys or in a kitchen or hallway, possibly for rolled hand towel storage, or filled with scarf and mittens, or even toiletry storage in a bathroom.
