Two Large South American Yanomami Gathering Baskets

About the Item

A fine pair of tightly woven burden or gathering baskets from the South American Yanomami People of the Brazilian Rainforest. Very strong and woven from Palm fiber, the baskets are used for gathering food and strong enough to carry firewood. One basket has a faint banded design utilizing plant dye and the other has traditional circle designs in charcoal. The weaving is intricate and elegant. Dimensions: Basket with Circles 16” diameter by 15.75” high. Banded Basket 17” diameter by 15” high. Condition: The overall condition of both baskets is very good with a couple of breaks in the top twine on one basket which does not diminish the Organic and authentic Tribal presentation.
