About the Item
Reminiscent of the Elemental sculpture of Constantin Brancusi, this Hardwood African Mortar and Pestle has a fantastic paper smooth age patina, great weight and solidity. The slender Pestle is surprisingly heavy, surely a help in grinding Corn and other grains. Dating to the earlier 20th century, African Mortars of this quality are becoming rare.
Together the Mortar and Pestle Measure 12” diameter by 42” high.
Condition: Please see detail photos. Original condition with age-related stable splits which do not detract but add to the magnificent presentation.
