Vintage Vietnamese Backpack Basket
About the Item
Vintage Vietnamese Backpack Basket. A woven form starting with a square bamboo base tapering up to an open round sturdy mouth with a a smooth interior surface, specifically used in the delicate hand harvesting of tea leaves. The basket weave with supplementary woven straps for the basket to be carried on the back of the tea picker. The bamboo weave smoked and lighter in color on the side that would have been against the carrier’s back.
Signs of wear and use otherwise fine condition.
Late 20th century.
