About the Item

A striking 20th century Amazonian Shipibo pot hand-built from clay, decorated with wide red and orange lines, and glazed with the sap of a tree. Members of the Shipibo tribe create the pot, usually decorated with stylized geometric floral and animal patterns, and bring them to market for sale to tourists in the Amazon jungle. Based on the the rather simple decoration and amount of wear, we believe this pot was used tribally.
