Bodil Manz Unique Bowl, Denmark 1980’s

About the Item

Rare Bodil Manz Unique Bowl, made in Denmark in the 1980’s. The bowl is made in glazed porcelain with a great structure in different levels. The ceramist Bodil Manz graduated from the School of Artisans in 1965 and at the Gustavsberg porcelain factory near Stockholm met the German-born Richard Manz, who had emigrated to Sweden in 1954 after an apprenticeship as a potter and tile stove maker. From 1967 until Richard Manz's death in 1999, they shared a workshop and collaborated on major decoration projects, for example for the Farum Swimming Pool (1978-79) and the National Museum in Bahrain (1987-88), as well as on applied art in porcelain and stoneware. Bodil Manz has predominantly worked with subtle, abstract decorations on paper-thin, simple vessel forms in porcelain. The quality of both Bodil Manz and her husband Richard Manz has made there pieces collectibles for collectors all over the world.
