Wilhelm Kåge Våga bowl

About the Item

Våga bowl made by Swedish ceramic artist Wilhelm Kåge at the Gustavsbergs workshop in the 1950's. The bowl was made as part of the Våga series which was designed by Wilhelm Kåge in 1949. The Våga series was one of the last series Wilhelm Kåge designed during his time at Gustavsberg. The bowl is made of stoneware with a beautiful white carrara glaze which was used in a lot of the series Wilhelm Kåge made durring his time at Gustavsberg. The bowl carries the manufacture stamp from Gustavsberg. Wilhelm Kåge born (Algot Wilhelm Nilsson) (6 March 1889 – 25 November 1960) was a Swedish artist, painter and ceramist. He was 1917–49 artistic director at Gustavsberg, where in the early 1930s he introduced a functionalist line with stackable frames. Kåge believed that the workers should have beautiful objects of use, and therefore in 1920 he designed a "worker frame" with the name Liljeblå.
