By Edward F. Caldwell & Co.
    Located in Philadelphia, PA
Made by Edward F. Caldwell & Company of New York, America's most distinguished and lauded maker of fine lighting fixtures and metal decorative pieces in the early 20th century, this lidded bowl of cast and repoussé bronze depicts a series of winemaking scenes on the lid and a frieze of Renaissance angels playing lute and pipes on the bowl below. Caldwell with Victor von Lossberg in 1895, and before long the company was collaborating with the likes of Stanford White and other prominent architects, supplying lighting and architectural details for a veritable "who's who" of prestigious building projects. Among them: the University Club, Andrew Carnegie...
