A footed bowl by Bertil Vallien for Boda with controlled bubble decor
About the Item
A nice footed bowl with a great decor of regularly arranged bubbles, pierced into the first glass layer, then carefully mottled with glass powder before being cased with another layer of clear glass. The decor to me is reminiscent of natures designs like a peacock feather, an octopus leg etc. This piece is one of Bertil Vallien's early series for Boda-Åfors, Sweden. It is likely to be from the late 1960ties, when Bertil and his wife were working in the Åfors branch of Boda Åfors. Sometime in the 1970ties Boda then merged with Kosta to become Kosta Boda until 2005, when the next merger with Orrefors lay ahead. The item is signed and inscribed with the model numer in three lines "Boda B Vallien 57532".
