Georg Jensen Ensemble of Sterling Silver Bowls #268

About the Item

A rare collection of three exquisite Georg Jensen sterling silver bowls design #268a, by Johan Rohde. A stunning and very rare design with its innovative art nouveau design, these Jardinière's demonstrate early indications of the emerging art deco movement, making them truly groundbreaking design for its time. Johan Rohde, renowned for his forward-thinking approach as a designer, showcases his visionary talent in this stunning creation from 1917. To Find a collection of three is unheard of, Furth more all three having extremely early design hallmarks makes this trio a true collectors lot. Each piece is crafted in a round bowl shape, featuring a flaring rim that adds a touch of elegance. One of the standout features of this design is the meticulously applied hand chased bead-and-strap work lattice adorning the sides of the bowl. This intricate technique requires exceptional skill and precision to fabricate. Resting on four gracefully scrolling bracket feet, each bowl stands on a stepped base, beautifully centered by a bud finial. Adding to its functional appeal, four loophole rings are attached, allowing for convenient lifting of the bowl. These subtle yet thoughtful details enhance both the aesthetics and practicality of the piece. Dimensions:  Largest bowl: H: 8 1/2" (22.5cm) and a diameter of 13 1/2" (34.5 cm). Medium bowl: H: 7 1/4″ (18 cm) and a diameter of 9 3/4″ (25 cm). Smallest bowl: H: 4 3⁄8 in. (11 cm.) ,diameter 6 3/4″ (17cm). Combined weight of all three bowls: an impressive 192 oz (5448 grams). Hallmark: as early as nearly possible, two have 1919 date stamps, the third a 1925-1932 hallmark. *Photos copyright GPS
