Georg Jensen Lidded "Rose" Tureen With Ebony Handles #417

About the Item

An ornate art nouveau Danish sterling silver Georg Jensen lidded tureen with shell carved ebony handles, design #417A by Georg Jensen from circa 1920. This design is referred to as "Rose" design. The intricate floral detail on the lid is organic arts and crafts design, to create such work one would have to be a master silversmith. The base a round shaped bowl hand forged up in a slightly curved shape. The lid is stepped and on top and abundance of floral decorations. The handles are ebony and have a large singular blossom or magnolia flower support by stems. Dimensions: 10 7/8" (27. cm) across including the handles. The diameter without the handles is 7 1/8" (18cm). The height is 5" (12.5cm). Weight: 893 Grams (31,49 oz.) including the ebony handles. Hallmarks: Vintage Georg Jensen Hallmarks from 1925-1932.
