Chinese Export Porcelain European-subject Punch Bowl, Sailor's Farewell and Return Bowl with Royal Navy Ship, Circa 1765-75 The Chinese Export porcelain bowl has two images of a sailor and his wife, one known as the sailor's farewell and the other the sailor's return. The farewell depicts the sailor leaving his wife who hugs him as he is about to depart as he points to the Royal Navy Ship with the Blue Ensign just offshore. The sailor's return depicts the sailor depositing watches and coins into his wife's upraised apron. Between the images are large painted flowering branches and the interior has similar painting.
