Monumental Amphora Art Nouveau Bowl w/Saurian by Eduard Stellmacher & Co.
Located in Chicago, US
Model #13
Eduard Stellmacher and Co, Porzellanfabrik und Kunstkeramische Industriewerke
Driven to establish a new company that produced luxury porcelain and ceramic items based on his own aesthetic aspirations, Stellmacher left Amphora when the workshop was at its most prosperous, in 1904. Together with entrepreneur Karl Frank, who provided the financial backing, he founded Ed. Stellmacher & Co. in Turn-Teplitz in 1905.
From the outset, Stellmacher worked hard to achieve a major position among other high-end ceramic art producers. He believed the success of the company would depend on his products of “appropriate methods and unerring quality, perfect from both the technical and artistic sides”. Stellmacher based his first collection on artistically progressive products, pieces he believed would be in high demand. The greater part of the designs were either large vases complemented with sculptures of fantastic dragons or natural animals. With this series, Stellmacher continued the themes he had created for Amphora from 1899-1902, however, his naturalistic renderings of animals was even more elaborately precise. He developed a special ceramic material called refined earthenware, which minimized the shrinkage that was common during firing and allowed for greater preservation of details in the original models.
Unfortunately, by 1905, contrary to Stellmacher’s plans, there was little to no demand for objects of this type. Very few pieces exist today as very few were originally produced. Even after redirecting the company to produce commercial goods Stellmacher still could not ward off the company’s demise. By 1910 the Stellmacher & Co. fell into bankruptcy and was liquidated.

Marguerite Wildenhain Signed Pond Farm Mid-Century Modern Studio Pottery Bowl
Located in Studio City, CA
A truly spectacular work - a hand painted bird bowl by French-born, American Bauhaus-trained master ceramic artist, educator, and author Marguerite Wildenhain. The color, feel of the work, and radiant glaze are something to behold.
Marguerite Wildenhain was born to a British mother and a German father. She lived in Germany during her formative years studying at the Berlin University of the Arts. Wildenhain later attended Bauhaus in Dornburg from 1919 to 1925. During her time at Bauhaus, Wildenhain studied alongside painters Paul Klee and Wassily Kandinsky and she worked closely with sculptor Gerhard Marcks and potter Max Krehan. In 1925, Wildenhain became the first woman to earn the Master Potter certification in Germany. In 1940 she was forced to flee Europe and moved to New York and then shortly after to California (while her husband Franz Wildenhain...

Art Deco Longwy Primavera Charger
Located in Oakland, CA
Longwy ceramic Art Deco charger, over 16 inches in diameter. Artist signature Olesseruez designed and executed by Primavera atelier. The Primavera design studio pieces manufactured by Longwy are some of the most collectible and highly sought after period ceramic pieces from this golden era of Longwy earthenware production. Primavera was the design studio of the Paris department store “Les Grands Magasins du Printemps”. They tend to be more cutting edge, modernist and artistic designs. This is a rare model, not a typical Primavera production and is also signed directly by the artist and the stamp from Atelier Primavera not seen often.
The design renders the monotone artistic still life of fruit in a bowl with...
