About the Item

Large ceramic "Marselis" dish by Nils Thorsson for the ceramic manufacturer Aluminia, later brandname Royal Copenhagen. Made ca. 1950s. It features a maroon brown glaze over a repeated square decor. The surface is tactile. Nils Thorsson designed pieces for the "Marselis" series from the early 1950s to 1970. The first pieces were shown to the public at his anniversary exhibition in 1952. He designed at least 24 different pieces for this series.
