Per Linneman-Schmidt Palshus Haresfur Glazed Studio Pottery Bowl
About the Item
Per Ingvard Henrik Wulff Linneman-Schmidt (Danish, 1912-1999) was a Danish sculptor and ceramic artist born in Copenhagen. In 1948 he established a studio with his wife Annelise in Taastrup, naming it Palshus. The studio produced very high quality and fine ceramics using simple glazes influenced by Japanese potters. The artistic and technical quality was not only precise but also minimalist in style. Later works changed in style and were not as popular as these early works which are highly sought after and collected worldwide.
This stunning Danish studio pottery bowl, sometimes referred to as ‘triangular’ is of squeezed oval shape and decorated in soft yellow and lavender glazes and was made by Per Linneman-Schmidt in the 1950’s. The very finely potted bowl stands on a narrow round unglazed foot with a slight recess with the round shaped body squeezed to form an oval shape and is beautifully decorated in soft haresfur glazes in yellow over a lavender blue ground with a pale brown glazed rim. The bowl is marked Palshus to the base along with an incised PLS mark Per Linneman Schmidt and numbered 1132 along with an incised A, probably the latter a date mark.
Provenance: from a choice collection of Scandinavian pottery amassed by a private gentleman who sadly now has insufficient space to display these fine pieces.
