Japanese Organic Shaped White Glazed Studio Pottery Bowl
About the Item
A large and impressive Japanese white glazed orangic shaped studio pottery bowl dating from the 20th century. The heavily made stoneware bowl is of deep rounded shape with kinked rim formed as thumb rest to enable the bowl to be easily balanced and carried in one hand. The bowl stands on a narrow round unglazed foot with recessed base and is decorated in white glazes which have thinned around the top edge showing through a brown effect of the underlying clay body. While simple in form the bowl is a stunning display piece and has an impressed Japanese seal mark to the base.
Provenance: Acquired from the UK Art Market.
In excellent original condition with light wear associated with age and use.
