Silver Gilt Kettle Drum Bowl Made in Birmingham by Frederick Elkington, 1878

About the Item

Regimental: an Extremely Rare Silver Gilt Kettle Drum Bowl Made in Birmingham in 1878 by Frederick Elkington. The Bowl is silver gilt and is modelled as a Kettle Drum. The round bowl is applied with ropework wirework, simulating tension rods. The front of the main body is engraved with a contemporary double griffins head Crest. The bowl stands on three detailed crossed timpani drumsticks, raised on a triform base with three ball feet. This piece is very well marked and stemped with the serial number 236. A very fine and very rare piece which most probably used officers in a Regimental Mess. Additional information: Height: 5.1 inches, 12.75 cm Diameter at the rim: 4.25 inches, 10.63cm
