Silver Gilt Kettle Drum Bowl Made in Birmingham by Frederick Elkington, 1878
About the Item
Regimental: an Extremely Rare Silver Gilt Kettle Drum Bowl Made in Birmingham in 1878 by Frederick Elkington.
The Bowl is silver gilt and is modelled as a Kettle Drum. The round bowl is applied with ropework wirework, simulating tension rods. The front of the main body is engraved with a contemporary double griffins head Crest. The bowl stands on three detailed crossed timpani drumsticks, raised on a triform base with three ball feet. This piece is very well marked and stemped with the serial number 236. A very fine and very rare piece which most probably used officers in a Regimental Mess.
