Stoneware Jug designed by Karin Björquist for Gustavsberg, Sweden. Can be used as carafe, pitcher or vase. It is part of the Indigo series of stoneware objects with white glaze and blue hand-painted geometric decor she created in 1952. Very nice graphic pattern, rare find. Karin Björquist designed many classics for the Swedish ceramic factory Gustavsberg. One of the most well-known series is Indigo from 1952. It consists of stoneware bowls, jars, mugs, and vases. They have white glaze and blue hand-painted geometric pattern. Each model could have several decors.

It is marked on the bottom with the Gustavsberg Studio hand, painter’s mark, and model number.

Large ceramic vide-poche or bowl, 13" diameter. Very rare in this dimension. It comes in olive green tones with an impressive blue flame in the center. The blue effect is replicated onto the upper edge. On the outside shows an impressed geometrical pattern. It comes with a thick glaze. Scandinavian Mid-Century bowl, produced by Palshus (Denmark) in the 1960s, founded by Per and his wife Annelise Linnemann-Schmidt. The couple created and produced chamotte (danish clay) objects, often with impressed decorations (tableware, vases, and lamps). Colors were characteristic Scandinavian earthy tones: blues, browns, greens and beige. Many other talented ceramic artists also worked for Palshus including Jens H. Quistgaard and Esben Klint.
