Scandinavian Modern Stoneware Plate "Mykene", Britt-Louise Sundell, Gustavsberg

About the Item

Britt-Louise Sundell designed the iconic Mykene series for Gustavsberg in 1961. This collection features objects with sturdy forms, matte cream white glaze, and a distinctive brown circular relief pattern. Crafted from chamotte clay, this piece showcases a rustic yet modernist design. Notably, a large ceramic bowl from this series features circles in brown glaze on a cream-colored base, marked with the deep stamp "Gustavsberg" and their sign. Britt-Louise Sundell (1928-2011) was a prominent figure at Gustavsberg for three decades, creating both tableware and unique ceramic pieces.
