“The Cornfield”
By John Constabl
1776-1837
Like Fen Lane, which hangs to the right, this study is thought to be one of the works Constable began outdoors in Suffolk in 1817, but did not finish. It too shows Fen Lane, but from further down.

It was probably while preparing the finished picture that he lowered the trees at the right of this earlier sketch by overpainting them with sky. (History courtesy of the Tate Organization)
The original is hanging in the National Gallery London

The building features prominently in earlier works by Constable, including The Mill Stream...

Classic Equestrian Style Ceramic Horse Vide-Poche Decorative Trinket Dish
Located in Oklahoma City, OK
Rounded square equestrian style horse dish or trinket bowl with horse portrait at center. This dish or plate is in a square shape, with rounded edges. Almost circular, but not quite. (A shape that resides somewhere in between) Around the edges is a portrait of a brown horse or pony with leather and blue harness or bridle. Around the exterior, at the lip, are painted with gold.
Inside the dish, is a portrait of a pony or horse with leather bridle. The horse's hair is a warm brown, and the mane is of a lighter brown color with light cream or white streaks. His or her perky ears stand straight up and it’s eyes fixate on the viewer. A faint blue/green fades into the background. All atop a creamy bisque color glaze.
At the bottom on the underside, in green, are the makers marks.
How We Would Style It:
We’d love to see this dish or trinket tray in a country pied-à-terre. Possibly atop a guest room nightstand? Or perhaps between a set of two twin beds. (See our other listing of faux bamboo twin...
