About the Item

Simple and elegant concave dish designed by Ward Bennett . Highly polished top and underside glass with a green tint . No nicks in glass . Minor scuffs on underside . Born in 1917, Ward Bennett was under-regarded as a modernist designer in his lifetime, perhaps because of the unostentatious, uncluttered way in which lived. Essentially, he believed in simplicity, both in his design and as a design for life. He began in fashion but would eventually excel in furniture and accessories. His most important commission was Chase Manhattan Bank. His works are in the permanent collection of the MOMA.
