Antique Figural German Bisque Humidor of the Prussian King Frederick the Great
About the Item
A rare, figural painted bisque humidor or dresser jar depicting the Prussian King - Frederick the Great (or Friedrich der Grosse).
A full bust with shoulders comprises the base of the jar. A tricorn hat forms the lid.
The base has impressed marks.
Ruling from throughout the middle part of the 18th century, Frederick was the last King of Prussia and the longest reigning Hohenzollern kings. He was an enlightened Monarch, thought to have been homosexual, and eventually succeeded by his nephew, Frederick William II.
