Beautiful cigar humidor in fruit wood marquetry and brass fillets. Precious gorgeous woods.
This cigar box is signed by the famous table cabinetmaker Alphonse Giroux, a reference in the field.
On the hood, in the brass cartouche top, yiu caan see the Royal Count's crown and the number of Count Charles Cousin-Montauban (double "C" embedded), Count of Palikao, Chief of Staff and Minister of War at the end of Napoleon III, from August 10 to September 4, 1870.
Interior with two storage trays for cigars, as well as a small drawer intended to accommodate the smoker's objects. Ornamentation of gilded bronzes with handles, key entry, angles. Rests on 4 small ball feet.

About Alphonse Giroux, "the merchant of the princes", was an important Parisian manufacturer of luxury furniture and accessories and bronzes, whose products were intended for an aristocratic and bourgeois clientele, installed as early as 1799 at No. 7, rue du Coq Saint -Honoré, then Boulevard des Capucines. Founded by François-Simon-Alphonse Giroux under the name "A. GIROUX in PARIS", it was taken over by the Giroux children and remained active under the name of "Alphonse Giroux et Cie" until 1867, when the direction is taken over by Ferdinand Duvinage .
