About the Item
An antique Java Indonesia teak burl document box with pieces metal corner mounts, brass studs, wood trim, side handles and a shield form escutcheon plate with a later fitted key. The box opens to reveal two interior compartments, one with a lid.
Dimensions: 20" W x 13" D x 7" H
Condition: Please see detail photos. Various expected and acceptable signs of age include the iron hinges have been replaced as can be seen from the carved outline beneath the hinges. The opening and closing of the lid is tricky and the escutcheon plate needs to be pushed in for the box to open whether locked or not. There are minor veneer repairs and wear especially to corners all mentioned for accuracy as the presentation is fine.
