This is an antique vanity case. An English, rosewood and brass travelling dressing table box, dating to the Regency period, circa 1820. Beautifully figured case with a fine fitted interior Displays a desirable aged patina and in good order Select stocks present superb grain interest and rich caramel hues Quality glassware in good, original condition Lid adorned with an unmarked brass nameplate, ideal for personalisation Dressed to the fascia with an inset brass lock escutcheon — key present Opens to reveal a captivating cobalt blue interior Ruched fabric lining to the lid interior, concealing a removable mirror Mirror displays a desirable light foxing and bright reflection Lift-out tray with a trio of compartments and two glass canisters Two pairs of glass bottles sit neatly within the rear of the casework Lifting the brass topped pin gains access to the slide-out drawer on the side This is a striking antique vanity case, with a wonderfully appointed interior replete with quality glass and useful storage compartments. Solid joints and construction, delivered waxed, polished and ready for the home. By Hunt and Roskell From our Vanity Box collection, we are delighted to offer this Coromandel Silver Gilt Vanity Box by Hunt and Roskell. The Vanity Box of rectangular shape with brass edging veneered in exotic Coromandel with a vacant initial plaque. The front and lid of the box feature brass stringing framing the outer perimeter with a barrel shaped escutcheon to the front. The exterior is finished with twin brass handles, one to each side with shaped accents and ball inlays. The interior of the Vanity Box is lined in royal blue velvet with a ruched inner lid containing a rear compartment holding a free standing mirror and storage for letters. The Vanity Box houses fourteen cut glass jars with engine turned sliver gilt Sterling Silver lids with vacant initial plaques to the centre of each jar. The Silver is hallmarked London, Sterling Silver by Charles Rawlings & William Summers and is dated 1846. To the centre of the top tray there is a rectangular removable tool pad containing various vanity tools. The top tray is removable via the two metal loop tabs to each side, located beneath the tray is a second tray with multiple partitions for jewellery, rings and or cufflinks.The second jewellery tray can be removed to access a larger storage area in the base. The rear of the Vanity Box is partitioned and contains five larger glass jars and an extremely rare silver gilt cup with a lined cushion for the glass jar which sits inside. The interior of the box is finished with a Bramah lock signed on the lock plate J.Bramah, 124 Piccadilly. The Vanity Box comes with its original fitted leather case with full leather straps and dates to the middle of the 19th century during latter years of the Victorian period and the reign of Queen Victoria dated 1846.
