Art Deco 1930 Swiss Centerpiece Compote with Lid in Gilded .925 Sterling Silver

About the Item

An important Swiss art deco centerpiece. Beautiful and unusual antique piece, created in Switzerland during the Art Deco period, back in the 1930s. This round center compote has been crafted in solid .925/.999 sterling silver with very high polished surfaces and finished with an exceptional gilding of 22 karats. The design is composed by the base with screwed mountings attached to the main body and a removable lid embellished with a white carved sphere. Has a total weight of 1,191 Grams and an overall measurements of 178 mm by 178 mm by 102 mm (7 x 7 x 4 Inches). Stamped with the maker's mark, the Swiss warranty hallmarks and the sterling assay mark .925. Condition: The overall condition of this piece is excellent. Beside the little normal wear, there is no damage to the sterling and the gold. This piece has been carefully inspected to guarantee the condition and authenticity. INVENTORY REF: D0000RNNL/.1111.

    An art deco desk box designed by Poole Silver Co. American, Founded in 1893. Very elegant rectangular box, created in America during the art deco period back in the 1930-1940. Poole Silver Co. The Poole Silver Company was formed in 1892 by George Poole and Edward Roche in Taunton as Poole, Roche & Co., then established as a corporation on May 21, 1895. They was in the beginning manufacturer of plated silverware and manufacturer of silver products made with electroplating techniques. In 1900 it operated in a small two-room factory at 106 Whittington Street, and later moved to 320 Whittington Street. From 1946 the firm began to produce sterling silver flatware, hollowware, and cutlery. Later, Poole bought the full control and managed the company until his death. Poole was succeed by his three sons until 1946, when they retired and sold the company to a group headed by Sidney A. Kane. Has been crafted in solid .925/.999 sterling silver standard with gilded interiors. The case has been made in a cushioned compact shape with eight barrels hinge and a push pressure thumb. The main panel on top is illustrated with a landscape scene and a Formula-1 racing red car, with the number L6, all realized with polychrome enamels. The reverse is embellished with engine turned guilloche decorations. This fine piece is masterfully worked with extreme details and is a very especial example for any collector, or a wonderful gift for someone special. It is in perfect preserved condition.
