Cast Bronze Lidded Box with Medieval Scenes and hardwood liner, Late 19thC
About the Item
This is a cast bronze metal box modelled as a casket with a wood liner and depicting medieval scenes. We date this box to the late 19th Century.
The box is made of a cast metal (bronze) shaped in the form of a rectangular casket with small feet to the base and a hinged lid riveted to the main body. The inside has a hardwood liner.
The lid is well decorated with eight individual medieval court scenes possibly depicting the court of Henry 111rd of England who reigned from 1216 to 1272.
