Art Deco Birds-eye Maple Box with hinged lid, circa 1925

About the Item

This is a good quality Art Deco period lidded Box, of Birds-Eye Maple veneer, probably French in origin and dating to circa 1925. The box has a rectangular shape with a fitted hinged lid, all in birds-eye maple. This box is very well made of a Birds-eye Maple which is veneered onto a different wood, with veneers to all the external surfaces apart from the base. The insides of the box are also veneered which is a real sign of quality. The lid front has a slightly protruding shaped top which acts a a lifting handle to the lid . This box has a variety of uses, such as jewelry or trinkets on the desk or dressing table. Overall a high quality finely made box.

  • Small Chinese Cloisonné Lidded Box Two Dragons Chasing Flaming Pearl Circa 1930s
    Located in Lincoln, Lincolnshire
    This is a very decorative Chinese cloisonné lidded box which we date to the mid 20th century. The box has a cylindrical shape, with its original lid and is all beautifully made with colored enamels set into a black ground. The main decoration to the body shows two 4-toed dragons chasing a flaming pearl. The lid shows another dragon set amongst clouds. The dragons have a gold colouring and other colours are used to give the detailed scene including red, green, blues, yellow and white. The lid also has lappet border patterns in blue to its edges.
