Art Deco Ladies Compact ceramic with bevel gilded mirror, circa 1920
About the Item
This is a very decorative, circular Ladies Compact made in France, Circa 1920
The compact is very well made with a circular body having a hinged lid holding a circular bevelled mirror within a gilded metal frame. The lid has a small push fit catch and is a good fit to the main body..
The ceramic body of the compact has radial incised lappets in continuous concentric circles of varying radius. The body has a rich blue colour which has partially worn away on the base from use. The gilded metal has raised pin heads around its main perimeter, with fine rope twist gilded decoration around the bevelled mirror.
We cannot find a makers mark on this fine piece.
