Dunhill Paris 1928 By Louis Kuppenheim Enameled Chinoiserie Box In 935 Sterling

Enameled compact box by Louis Kuppenheim for Alfred Dunhill. An extraordinary round compact box, created in the city of Pforzheim Germany during the art deco period, back in the late 1920's. This superb elegant round box is closely to mint condition, is very rare and was carefully crafted at the Louis Kuppenheim workshop in solid .935/.999 silver, with gilt interiors and a mirror. Exceptional workmanship as you expect of the workshop of Louis Kuppenheim, with remarkable enameled patterns of peacocks feathers on both faces. Embellished around with white enamel frames and the borders with incised and carved panels with flowers. Engraved: Monogram GG for Gussie Gerstenzang. Weight: 143.40 Grams, (91.92 Dwt). Measurements: Diameter of 80 mm by 12.5 mm (3.14 x 0.49 Inches). Hallmarks: Stamped with the maker's mark and signed, "MADE IN AUSTRIA 08233 STERLING SILVER .935 ASC 935". For Alfred Dunhill. On the World Exhibition in 1900 the firm received a gold medal for a letter opener. In that same year the company opened a branch in the Rue Richelieu 67 in Paris. In these years some designs by Hans Christiansen were executed, amongst them very delicately enameled silver cigarette cases. The enamels on the several silver and gold pieces was of very high standard, and sometimes even gems like rubies were applied. Mechanical enameled box by Louis Kuppenheim. Very rare box, created during the art deco period in the city of Pforzheim Germany, back in the 1934. This colorful box is closely to mint condition, designed with geometric shapes at the Louis Kuppenheim silversmith workshop. It was crafted with impeccable details in solid .935/.999 silver, with gilded finish in the interior and embellished with classic chiseled borders. Has an exceptional workmanship as you expect of the workshop of Louis Kuppenheim, with a remarkable geometric composition made up with red, blue and black enamels topped with accents in yellow gold. It is fitted with discrete invisible hinges and with one integrated mechanical push button for opening. Weight: 188.20 Grams, (120.64 Dwt). Measurements: 73 mm by 84 mm by 14 mm (2.87 x 3.31 x 0.55 Inches). This beautiful box was specially commissioned by the Cartier branch in Paris France to the Louis Kuppenheim silversmith workshop. It was crafted with impeccable details in solid .935/.999 silver, with gilded finish in the interior and high polished frames. Has an exceptional workmanship as you expect of the workshop of Louis Kuppenheim, with a remarkable geometric composition made up with in blue and black enamels. It is fitted with nine barrels invisible hinges and a push snap thumb for opening. This box is very rare and involves three big names in their manufacture, such; Cartier, Louis Kuppenheim and Alfred Dunhill. Weight: 128.40 Grams, (82.31 Dwt). Measurements: 83 mm by 58 mm by 12 mm (3.27 x 2.28 x 0.47 Inches). Hallmarks: Stamped with French marks, the maker's mark LK inside an oval cartouche associated to the workshop of Louis Kuppenheim, which is obliterated by the mark AD associated to Alfred Dunhill Paris, twice with the French national mark for the assay of the .935 silver, the case model number, the Cartier serial numbers and signed in full, "CARTIER MADE IN FRANCE STERLING No3277 LK/AD .935".
