Early 18th Century Italian Carved and Dovetailed Walnut Alms Box
About the Item
Early 18th century Italian carved and dovetailed walnut alms box, circa 1725
Large dovetails and old handwrought nails give this small scale box a heavy, rugged and strong build. A crude coin slot cut into the top complete with an old iron push implement. Deeply carved leaf burst design on the front with moulded edges on the top and base. The top edge shrunk back from age.
Would make a nice plinth or side table on a small stand.
