Wooden box handpainted in a handsome black with white floral design and decoration.
The interior of the cover signed and dated 'Emily Lambert February 1796'. This box is the period of Jane Austen. One can imagine Emily Lambert using this box as the ladies of this time period. A very special piece indeed. Very old tag on bottom of box from earlier dealer.
