About the Item
Etui in Oxidized Steel with Crest of Swedish Noble Family Oxenstierna 19th Century. Entirely in oxidized black steel, except for aforementioned crest and silvered hatch. Slightly rounded edges, leading to an elegant appearance.
Belonged to the prominent Swedish noble family Oxenstierna and adorned with the crest of said family. The family are among the oldest families of Swedish nobility (of the esteemed category of Ancient nobility) and have long held an elevated position in Swedish and European politics. The most famous member of the family, Axel Oxenstierna, who is often credited with essentially creating the Swedish administrative state, served as regent during the tumultuous years of the Thirty Years War, when Swedish king Gustavus Adolphus defeated much of the Holy Roman Empire.
