About the Item
We are delighted to offer for sale this stunning very rare oversized Gothic Revival circa 1840 Victorian wine cooler or planter
A very nice decorative and well made piece, the Lion hairy paw hark back to the early 17th century designs, the are superbly carved and look amazing from every angle. The timber is all original and has the correct patina for the age, its hand sawn and has the wonderful cut marks all-over. The paint finish is period ebonising and worn and aged as you would expect
This piece has been designed as either a planter or wine cooler, I think most likely as a planter or for some kind of storage as it has the wooden base where as a cooler would be all metal
We have cleaned waxed and polished it from top to bottom, absolutely soaked it in three coats of Cuprinol worm treatment, it is in ready to go condition throughout
