Large Ethnic Indian hand painted decorative jewelry red box with brass design. Original beautiful Kerala Netturpetti jewelry box. Handcrafted of hard wood with pyramid top form and decorated with heavy brass decorative mounts. The hinged lid having deep canted borders mounted with a gilt bronze hasp with pierced catch plate to the front. . The ethnic jewel box of the Kerala woman was once a mark of the influential families of the land. The casket (petti) originally designed in the Nettur region of Malabar is testimony of the patience and skill of the artisans who make it. Great Folk Art, hand painted on a red background.
