About the Item
Charming little box of the Louis-Philippe period in native wood with marquetry net and the word "odeur" inlaid on the lid. The interior covered with a blue fabric and a purple velvet includes two reserves or which contain two small porcelain cups (one is missing) which were used to contain ointments or salts. Indeed, women wearing very tight bodices were very often subject to discomfort, and had to breathe salts to regain their spirits.
