About the Item
We offer for sale a highly decorative item, it is a sculptural box that has the shape of a bird, a quail to be exact.
Very realistic in workmanship and size, this box dating back to around the 70s, was made in a metal casting, probably pewter, which was then subjected to a silver plating bath.
The production of the mid-20th century modern silver plated objects in animal shapes recalls the production of accessories signed by Gucci or the Florentine manufacture of Mauro Manetti but the item we offer has a brand engraved in the base that is not attributable to either of the two, it shows the initials "DS" which we have not been able to identify.
The box is in good vintage condition, it shows minimal signs of use, highlighted in the photos, mainly on the inside, in the lower body of the box where the silver plating has worn away.
Splendid as a tobacco holder but also as a jewelry holder, its high decorative power makes it perfect even without finding a truly necessary function :)
