About the Item

This is an exquisite and happy subject, the hand-painted porcelain realized by the master is signed with his well-known blue initials "J.P." as his monogram mark. From 1834, Jacob Petit presented at the Universal Exhibitions, remarkable pieces whose technical innovations brought him many official awards. Very talented, he excels at rendering the material with realism the detail of fabrics, jewels, and precious stones. Jacob Petit (real name Jacob Mardochée) 1796-1868, first entered the studio of painter Antoine-Jean Gros, a disciple of Jacques-Louis David, as a student. Early attracted to porcelain, he joined the Manufacture de Sèvres in 1822.
