This is a small antique apprentice-piece chest. An Anglo-Indian, carved teak Colonial keepsake box, dating to the late Victorian period, circa 1880. Petite scholar's miniature coffer with accomplished carved detailing Displays a desirable aged patina and in good order Select teak stocks present warm caramel hues and fine grain interest Panelled carvings host flowerhead motif, with broad petal detail Foliate borders and naive chip carved corners add further distinction This is a charming antique apprentice-piece chest, with its miniature proportion no limit to the burgeoning craftsman's skilful finish.
