Two French 19th Century Glove Boxes

These two boxes from a private New York collection are fine examples of a necessary item in a 19th century women's home. The larger box is in black leather with gilt metal applied roses and stems and is marked with the makers label and address. The other is made of burled walnut with mother-of-pearl and brass inlay. The interiors of both are satin tufted and in good shape.
