About the Item
Goirgeous Antique Ship Desk with Side Drawer and Brass Reinforcements. 1870
Antique and sober ship's desk made of mahogany wood and with polished brass reinforcements. This beautiful piece dates back to 1870 and retains the original lock. It also has a key to activate it. The wood is mahogany and has a beautiful, deep reddish color, characteristic of this species. As is usual with furniture and objects from old ships, the desk is reinforced at the corners with screwed brass plates. On the sides it has two removable recessed handles, also made of brass. Once opened, the desk shows an original leather envelope glued to the wood, with a beautiful embossing around its perimeter. The leather is green, and although it is somewhat worn, it is magnificent for its age, especially considering that it is the original. The desk retains the old patina in good condition. The bottom cover can be lifted to reveal a space for paper and envelopes. The desk has several compartments for pens, ink and writing accessories such as two original rock crystal and bronze inkwells. Next to the compartment for the pen there is a table that with a built-in mechanism opens 3 interior drawers hidden from view with bone handles.
Without a doubt, this desk is a magnificent piece that will make any lover of antique nautical objects happy.
