Wooden box with metal inlay. Possibly french, 19th century.

About the Item

Box with metal marquetry. Wood, metal. Possibly French school, 19th century. Has damage. Requires restoration. Rectangular chest with a flat lid that has a dark wood interior decorated on the lid with two metallic lines, and a black exterior with carved decorations (one molding towards the base and another at the top) and metal marquetry applications. This is concentrated in the hole for the lock and in the upper part of the lid (composition of vegetal and architectural elements with polychrome concentrated in the center and in the corners, joined together by lines). Both in the style of decoration and in the tones used, it is reminiscent of Napoleon III pieces from the French school. · Size: 38x27x14 cms
