About the Item

An art deco French cigarette & vesta-box compendium striker This is a very rare compendium luxury pocket box that combine a cigarettes case, a vesta box for matches and a striker lighter. The case was made in Paris France during the art deco period back in the 1920-1925. It was masterfully crafted in a rectangular shape in solid .900/.999 sterling silver with accents in yellow and rose gold of 18 karats with high polished finish and decorated with geometric linear patterns. The intricate box is fitted with a nine-barrels hinge lid with a mechanical thumb pusher for the cigarette compartment. A hinged concealed box for the matches and a removable striker. Made with excellent craftsmanship as you expect from a French goldsmith-silversmith and in great condition with no dents or restorations. Has been recently cleaned and polished. The thumb is accented with five natural earth mined sapphires. Country: Paris France. Period: Art-Deco, 1920-1925. Materials: .900 Sterling silver, 18kt yellow gold, 18kt rose gold. Sapphires: The pusher thumb button is mount in a channel setting, 5 with calibrated French faceted cut blue sapphires with an estimate total weight of about 0.60 carats. Weight: 185.70 Grams, (119.05 Dwt). Measurements: 108 mm by 73 mm by 16 mm (4.25 x 2.86 x 0.63 Inches). Hallmarks Each part is stamped with French national marks, the maker's mar inside a lozenge cartouche. The mark for the assay and warranty of the mixed metals article with sterling silver and gold and the eagle head for the 18 karats gold. Note: The striker in this compendium box is empty of any flammable, gas or butane substances and is ready to be ship by any carrier. This lighter just need a new flint and proper lighter fluid. Was tested and is in working condition. Condition: The overall condition of this cigarette & vesta-box compendium striker is excellent. Beside the little normal wear there is no damage to the silver or the gold. All parts are secured in the settings. This box was carefully inspected to guarantee the condition and the authenticity. An exceptional, fine and impressive vintage Elizabeth II English sterling silver cigarette box in the Art Deco style; an addition to the ornamental silverware collection. This exceptional vintage Elizabeth II sterling silver cigarette box has a plain rectangular form onto four bracket style feet. The surface of this impressive silver box is embellished with impressive engine turned decoration. The box is fitted with two hallmarked hinged covers each embellished with further panels of engine turned decoration in addition to an applied leaf border which continues across a central plateau. The interior of each solid silver cover features a paralleling band of engine turned decoration in addition to the part hallmarks; decoration to the posterior surface of a cover is an indication of the fine quality of a piece. The central plateau is surmounted with an impressive shaped handle, in the Art Deco style. The body of this exceptional box features the original cedar wood lining. This antique Art Deco cigarette box has a weighted base and retains the original leatherette covering to the underside.
