About the Item

An early nineteenth century papier mache snuff box, japanned and bronzed. A romantic scene to the lid of the box and a "secret" sliding panel to the underside revealing a hand-painted erotic scene. In the manner of Stobwasser, unsigned and dating to c.1820. Good condition with surface wear commensurate with age. 3 3/4" x 2 3/4" x 1".
