Pressed Wood Snuff Box Depicting the Battle in Paris of 30th March 1814

About the Item

Combat of March 30, 1814. On the heights of Saint Chaumont where an Artillery post served by students of the École Polytechnique fought fiercely and was saved from death by General Sokolnicki The Battle of Paris took place on March 30, 1814. The final battle of the France campaign, it pitted the Imperial French Army (40,000 men) against the Allied European forces (100,000 men). The French defeat marked the end of the reign of Napoleon I, who abdicated after the capitulation. This box is pressed wood and has a nice age patina and colour Diameter 8.2 cm
