Antique English Inlaid Mahogany Tea Caddy, circa 1790

About the Item

A very handsome George III tea caddy, made from Mahogany and beautifully inlaid with panels and highly decorative foliate marquetry to the front and top. The top has a handsome cast brass handle with a complimentary cast brass escutcheon which houses the working key. The lid opens to reveal three lidded compartments which would have housed three types of different tea which the butler would have blended to taste. The interior of the lid has been lined in a hand-marbelled paper. A lovely example in excellent condition, measuring 9 1/4" x 5" x 5 1/2" tall. Item ID: 36801.
