English Georgian Period Yew Wood Octagonal Tea Caddy with Fan and Column Inlays
About the Item
English Georgian 18th century yew wood octagonal tea caddy inlaid with fan and column motifs in satinwood, sycamore and boxwood. Multiple lines of stringing in satinwood, boxood and rosewood frame each panel of the tea caddy. The two interior tea compartments are lidded with yew wood and edged with satinwood crossbanding, rosewood and boxwood stringing. This lovely period box is in wonderful condition, circa 1790.

The front panel is inlaid in perspective cube made of boxwood, satinwood, sycamore and ebony enclosed with delicate stringing. the end panels are of lively walnut and the back panel is in flame mahogany; all are enclosed by delicate stringing.. The interior has a mahogany writing panel which hinges down to write upon; the interior of that space retains its original red paper lining.
