About the Item

A simply magnificent and grand example of a Regency Penwork Tea Caddy dating 1820. The caddy stands on it's original large gilded bronze Lion's paw feet and the sides retaining the original ring handles. The box opens to reveal a twin compartment configuration with two lift-off lids. The edges to to the base and lid are beautifully decorated with continual fan style penwork, quite wonderful. There is a glass mixing bowl that nestles into the centre, for the mixing of the Black and Green tea leaves and then placed into a teapot. Superb condition and a striking example. Spans 13 1/2" handle to handle; the footprint measuring 12 3/4" x 6 1/2" and standing 8 1/2" tall. Item ID: 35671 FREE Worldwide Registered Airmail Directly from London, England
